Relay for Life

So, as many of you know, my beautiful sister, Jan, passed away last month leaving us way too soon after being diagnosed with Stage V Gallbladder cancer. My dear friend Jenny, who passed away a few years ago now, died from complications from her brain tumor. Cancer is leaving a lot of big holes in my heart. For this reason, I have decided to participate in the Relay for Life on June 24th and 25th. To help raise the money for our team, I will donate $10 for every cake I sell between now and then no matter the size. Maryland baseball cap - Groom's cake

Maryland baseball cap - Groom's cake - this one was really fun for me. I had done a baseball cap previously and so I knew what I needed to do this time and so this one came through looking a lot cleaner than the first one did. Yay!

Black Lace wedding cake

Black Lace wedding cake - This was my first cake after my surgery. It took every ounce of energy I had. :) But it was nice to be creative again. I am very thankful I didn't book any other cakes until March though. :) This was also my first time doing the taller tiers. Very nerve wracking!

Elmo cake

Elmo cake - This was a quick cake before my surgery...and it was a good thing I did it early with the whirlwind of events that happened afterward. It was a fun break from the norm for me. It was going to have a number 2 candle right next to Elmo.

Mosaic Wedding Cake

Mosaic Wedding Cake - This was for an old missionary friend of mine so it was definitely a labor of love. They had their wedding at a cool place called Cactus and Tropicals in Salt Lake with a bird theme. This cake was made to match their invitations which were designed by Arlo's amazingly talented sister, Alma. Her blog is http://blog.ollibird.com. I really love making such unique cakes that perfectly fit the couple....and what a cute couple they were!

Emily stitched cake

Emily stitched cake - I love doing Emily cakes. She is adorable. This time she just wanted it the same colors as her bed spread. It is milk chocolate cake with chocolate filling.

Astro Boy/Mario cake

Astro Boy/Mario cake - So...this cute little boy couldn't make up his mind which cake he wanted. I was doing the Astro Boy cake and realized he had decided on the Mario cake, so we made it a two for one deal and included both. :)

Harry Potter cake

Harry Potter cake - This was so much fun for me. I have done Lego Harry Potter before, but not the real thing. It was a challenge, but I am a Harry Potter geek myself so it was fun to come up with things that are specifically Harry.

Angry Birds Cookies

Angry Birds Cookies - I love this game so much, so these were just a kick for me. I made them for my cute sister-in-law who has been a gracious hostess to my sister and most of my family while my sis goes through her chemo treatments. She is an angel and a fellow angry bird enthusiast. :)

Daisy, Sun and Sunflower cookies - These were such a breath of fresh air on such a dismal day. It is so cold and yucky outside right now and it was fun to do such bright and happy treats.

Family Guy Stewie cake - I love Stewie so this one was fun for me! Sorry for the swear. I know I have some people who look at this with their kids. I don't have my editing software on my computer anymore since it crashed. :)

Winter Cookie Bouquets

Winter Cookie Bouquets - I am still learning with these cookie bouquets, but I think I am getting better with each one. :) I have been doing them all for my sister's friends so that I can get more practice.

Dr. Suess Grinch cookies - These were for my brother-in-law who wanted Grinch cookies for his holiday party that were very Dr. Suessical. I was so excited about them! They look so simple to me, but they took forever! I loved it though. The Grinch is my fav!
